Why Aditya Hrudayam
I would like to call it as "Aditya Hrudayam". Aaditya being sun, Aditya Hrudayam, is the hymn taught by rishi Agastya to Rama to kill Ravana. The significance of Ravana here is analogous to the poverty or the bad rural infrastructure. Since the project has the potential to become a weapon to fight out the problems faced by underprivileged, it is better to name it like that.What is it all about

It is about creating rural infrastructure like housing, pavements, sewer lines, farm structures like farm fencing, farm house etc using low cost but efficient technological process. The cost is driven by using local material and reducing energy cost. Labor cost is minimized by DIY, co-operative and voluntary practices.
Core idea is to
- Use sun's energy to prepare brick, the basic building block material. Improve the quality of brick thereby make it withstand sun and water.
- Reduce the use of cement by employing a host of design improvement ideas (like self locking bricks)
- Optimize construction and enhance the life and duration of rural infrastructure by raising it to the western standards (a brick structure aesthetically looks magnificent and has withstood time for centuries)
- reduce transportation and transaction costs
Sun brick
- Temperature required is 800-1000 degrees ( Ceramic vitrification), as explained in the link below
